Draped in an authentic silk kimono, immerse yourself in a refined introduction to Japanese traditions.
Accompanied by our staff, you will visit a serene shrine and learn the proper etiquette of worship, gently discovering the spirit of respect that has long been cherished in Japan.
Away from the bustle of the city, this experience offers a quiet and memorable moment to connect with the essence of Japanese culture.
Program Flow
Authentic Silk Kimono Experience

The experience begins with dressing in a premium silk kimono.
The kimono collection at Washinan has been carefully curated over more than 50 years by Madame Okagaki, a respected figure in the kimono industry.
These exceptional pieces, usually reserved for special occasions, are made available exclusively through this program.
Unlike typical rental costumes, you will experience the true texture and elegance of authentic silk.
Guests may select their preferred kimono, which will be beautifully dressed by our skilled staff.
Shrine Etiquette & Cultural Insight
After dressing, you will visit a shrine and experience the etiquette and gestures of worship while walking through the grounds.
You will be gently guided through the beauty of bowing and the proper way to pray at a shrine.
Through these graceful movements, you will quietly experience the spirit of respect that underlies Japanese culture.
As this is not a tourist site, you can enjoy a calm and unhurried atmosphere.

In Case of Rain or hot weather – Indoor Cultural Experience

Regardless of the weather, the essence of the experience remains unchanged.
In the event of rain or extreme heat, as going outdoors in kimono can be difficult, the experience will take place indoors.
A symbolic purification space will be arranged indoors, allowing you to learn each step of shrine etiquette with care.
You may also enjoy a relaxed indoor photo session.
Traditional props such as wagasa umbrellas, folding fans, and a photo backdrop are prepared to beautifully capture your kimono experience.
(hot weather : mid-June~mid-September)
⸻
Serenity in Tea – Optional Tea Experience
After the main experience, guests may choose to enjoy matcha and traditional Japanese sweets in an authentic tea room.
In this serene setting, you will experience the essence of Japanese hospitality through the host’s graceful movements and the beauty of carefully prepared utensils.
Ritsurei-style seating (chairs and tables) ensures comfort for all guests.
(Approx. 30 min / Optional, complimentary)
⸻
A Silk Souvenir to Take Home

After the experience, you will receive a silk obiage and traditional kaishi paper as souvenirs.
The obiage is a delicate silk cloth that supports the obi while subtly enhancing the elegance of the kimono.
Its refined texture and gentle sheen, unique to pure silk, allow it to be enjoyed as a scarf in everyday life.
Kaishi paper, used in the tea ceremony, represents purity and thoughtful consideration for others.
Lightweight and versatile, it can be used as a napkin or a small plate for sweets.
Take home a tangible memory of Japanese aesthetics and sensibility.
