In my twenties, I studied abroad in Toronto, where I was deeply impressed by how proudly my international friends spoke about their home countries. This experience awakened in me a strong desire to introduce the beauty of Japan to others. Upon returning home, I began studying Nihon Buyo, a traditional Japanese dance performed in kimono, Japan’s exquisite national attire.
As I immersed myself in the world of kimono, I found great joy in meeting graceful “kimono beauties” who wore kimono with elegance and poise. Captivated by the transformation that arises from the choice of kimono and the art of wearing it, I was inspired to take part in work that allows me to share this timeless beauty with more people.
My journey with tea began when I joined the tea ceremony club in junior high school, where I studied sencha but never had the chance to properly experience matcha. Later, through a fortunate connection with Washinan, I was able to deepen my practice. I am especially drawn to the way each deliberate, unhurried movement in the tea ceremony flows seamlessly into the next, creating a sense of harmony and grace. Of course, savoring seasonal sweets is also one of the pleasures that keeps me devoted to this path.
20代の頃、トロントに語学留学した際、海外の友人が自国を誇らしげに語る姿を見て、「私ももっと日本を紹介したい」と強く思うようになりました。
帰国してまずは、日本の素晴らしい民族衣装である着物を身にまとい踊る、日本舞踊を習い始めました。
着物の世界と親しむようになると、着物を綺麗に着こなす優雅な“着物美人”との出会いがとても楽しく、素敵な着物美人がもっと世に増えてほしいと願い、着物に関わるお仕事に携わるようになりました。
お茶を始めたきっかけは、中学時代の茶道部でお煎茶を学んだものの、お抹茶をきちんと学ぶ機会がなかったことにあります。その後、和心庵で働くこととなり、学びを深めるようになりました。お点前のゆったりとした動きの中に、無駄のない所作が繋がっていく様子はとても心地よく、今も私の心を強く惹きつけています。もちろん、季節に合わせたお菓子をいただけることも楽しみのひとつです。
